A Discussion About the LG Optimus One P500 Smartphone.

November 17th 2011 -

If you’re looking for a smartphone today, you have many more options than just a few years ago, and the LG Optimus One P500 proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a phone with lots of features. However, this phone won’t offer the same level of performance as most of smartphones that are higher priced. If your need is just a good basic phone that lets you surf the web, then the LG Optimus One P500 would probably be a good choice.

The LG Optimus One P500 will be upgrading soon from the Android 2.2 operating system it currently uses. The Android 2.3 OS also known as Gingerbread is about to be released. If you have bought a phone that still uses 2.2, you will be able to upgrade if you want to. You can also choose to wait until the update so you can buy a phone with the new OS installed. There will probably be some improvements as well as a variety of changes to the phone. Reviews for the Gingerbread OS will have to wait until the official release, but many are hoping that this The Sprint network in the U.S. doesn’t offer a phone with the name LG Optimus One P500, however it does have one called the LG Optimus S which is basically the same phone. PC Magazine has high regard for the Optimus S, calling it “the best budget Android phone we’ve seen”. Because it operates using the Spring ID interface, you will have the ability to download many types of widgets and different apps on this phone. This allows
you to stay current with your favorite websites, social networking or to play games. You can customize your phone so that you can easily access the features and content you use the most.

Just like all other smartphones, you can play videos on the LG Optimus One P500. However, the display resolution of this phone doesn’t support all videos. There’s an app you can install called RockPlayer that will improve video performance. There are two versions of this app, one for free with ads and an upgraded version that you pay for. Adobe Flash isn’t supported by LG Optimus One P500 so it can cause problems in viewing certain videos or loading flash based web pages. There is an app for flash that is made by Android, but because the phone lacks the hardware specs it won’t work on it. For watching videos or loading flash based websites, this smartphone isn’t the best. If you don’t expect it to perform at the same level as a phone that cost two to three times as much, the LG Optimus One P500 will not disappoint you. This phone will take care of your communication needs as well as give access to the web, play some games and take pictures. For the budget conscious, basic phone needs person, the LG Optimus One P500 is a good smartphone choice.
